area. After all, running a market stall selling cauldrons and green man figurines acts as a bit of a beacon! In turn, I have found most of the local Pagans very supportive, but first, there has to be contact and recognition. The Borders Hedgewitch was started as a means to put people in contact with each other and to encourage a feeling of community. It is produced at each of the cross quarter festivals and relies on contributions from local pagans (and one or two honorary ‘locals’) of varied paths. It is always my aim to make it a forum for asking questions, offering advice and a sharing of experience. BHW is sent via email, by post and some are collected at the stall in Welshpool or Newtown. This means that it is available to everyone who wants to receive it and not just those who are ‘online’ A contacts list is produced separately, which is sent exclusively to people who have submitted their own contact details. I provide all these services completely free, simply because I believe it is what I have been given to do. In addition, The Simmering Cauldron also runs Mystic Alley, a Yuletide Fair with food and entertainment in Montgomery each December. This provides local pagans the opportunity to meet up, socialise and have a great day out.
